Pomegranate 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle: Olga Suvorova: Annunciation

Pomegranate 1000 Piece  Jigsaw Puzzle: Olga Suvorova: Annunciation

Olga Suvorova (Russian, b. 1966)
Annunciation, 2015

Olga Suvorova’s Annunciation follows a long tradition of reverential artworks depicting the announcement by the angel Gabriel to Mary that she will conceive the Son of God. The ornate costumes—silk and velvet, jeweled and embroidered—are complemented by vibrant flowers and birds, including the symbolic white dove and lilies. The result is a lush tapestry, delicate in feeling but full of undeniably boisterous color.
